26 Exciting Things Happening in Sugarloaf in 2026

In 2026, we are looking forward to improvements to transportation and mobility, new art and landscaping installations, a wide variety of events that bring our community together, and even more opportunities for partnership and collaboration.

  1. Artistic Crosswalks on North Brown Road – Vibrant artistic crosswalks designed by Krista Jones, aka JONESY, will connect the Sugarloaf Mills Park & Ride to recently built SPLOST-funded sidewalks and a staircase connecting to the mall.
  2. More landscaping installations along medians in the CID – We will add new landscape installations along Sugarloaf Parkway near Sugarloaf Mills and along Satellite Boulevard to make our district even more attractive.
  3. Major roadway improvements on Sugarloaf Parkway – Roadway widening and intersection improvements are beginning construction along Sugarloaf Parkway between Satellite Boulevard and Meadow Church Road.
  4. Sports Season at the Gas South District – The Atlanta Gladiators, Georgia Swarm, and Atlanta Vibe are all playing at the Gas South Arena. Be sure to check out a game!
  5. Sugarloaf Small Area Plan – We are working with Gwinnett County to plan for future land use and infrastructure improvements in our district. Stay tuned for ways to get involved!
  6. Renovations to the Gas South Arena – A $170 million renovation and expansion of the Gas South Arena will begin construction.
  7. Sugarloaf Security Meetings – These meetings bring together Sugarloaf area businesses and the Gwinnett County Police to share information and build partnerships that promote safety in our community.
  8. 78th Annual Gwinnett Chamber Dinner – This is an event we look forward to every year! The Annual Dinner will be held on February 6 and brings together Gwinnett County’s executives, community leaders, and elected officials for an elegant evening to celebrate the year’s accomplishments and recognize award winners.
  9. Stars of Gwinnett Talent Show – Come see a variety of acts at this fun event on February 24, hosted by the Rotary Club of Duluth to raise money to fight human trafficking. Maybe you will see some familiar faces!
  10. Banners celebrating our community – While some of our banners will have to come down during construction on Sugarloaf Parkway, we’re looking forward to adding some new locations on North Brown Road this year.
  11. Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament – This historic tournament brings the longest-running Division I women’s collegiate conference championship to Duluth for the first time, March 4-8.
  12. Gwinnett State of the County Address – This happens outside our district, but it is an important event highlighting County initiatives that impact our community. Hosted by the Gwinnett Chamber and Council for Quality Growth, this annual address features the Chairwoman of the Board of Commissioners offering business and community leaders insights into Gwinnett’s progress and future vision on March 6.
  13. Draw the District: A Chalk Arts Festival – On March 7, the Hudgens Center for Art & Learning, the Gas South Theater, and the Sugarloaf CID are teaming up for the first-ever chalk arts festival on the Gas South District Campus. Stay tuned for details.
  14. Partnership Gwinnett Economic Outlook – Join nationally recognized economist and Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute Director of the Center for Economic Development Research, Alfie Meek, Ph.D., on March 12 as he delivers an engaging and data-driven presentation on key economic trends and future projections.
  15. Interactive Light Installation at Preston C. Williams Gateway Park – We are working on a fun way to activate this amazing park space in our district – more to come soon!
  16. Loop Trail Progress – Design for the Loop Trail segment that follows Satellite Boulevard from Sugarloaf Parkway to St Ives Court is under design. Stay tuned for details on an upcoming Public Information Open House!
  17. Mitsubishi Electric Classic Tournament at TPC Sugarloaf – This event proudly stands as a premier golf tournament on the PGA TOUR Champions. It will be held April 20 – 26 and will benefit local charities through the Gwinnett Championship Foundation Inc., which has raised over $5 million since 2013.
  18. Hudgens Prize Competition – The Hudgens Prize is awarded every other year. This prestigious award offers a cash award of $50,000 and an opportunity for the winner to have their work displayed for three months in a solo exhibition at the Hudgens Center.
  19. Primark Opening at Sugarloaf MillsPrimark is an Irish retailer that will make its metro Atlanta debut at Sugarloaf Mills in the space that was formerly occupied by Neiman Marcus Last Call.
  20. Korean Festival at Sugarloaf Mills – This event, hosted by the Korean Festival Foundation, highlights Korean culture and features live K-POP performances and delicious food.
  21. Celebrating Artober – We are looking forward to celebrating art in our district this October as part of Explore Gwinnett’s county-wide celebration of creativity.
  22. Partnership Gwinnett Metro Atlanta Redevelopment Summit – This annual event will feature an inside look at upcoming redevelopment projects from around the region, insight into trends affecting the industry, networking and best practices from successful redevelopment projects and the presentation of the annual Metro Atlanta Redevelopment Summit awards.
  23. Gwinnett Glows – We’re excited to celebrate the second annual free holiday tree lighting ceremony at the Gas South District with food trucks, entertainment, and more!
  24. Georgia Festival of Trees – The Festival of Trees will return to the Gas South District, featuring a forest of fully-decorated Christmas trees, children’s activities, live entertainment, shopping, and a chance to ride the Pink Pig!
  25. Nutcracker at the Gas South Theater – Celebrate the holiday season with the most popular ballet of all time, The Nutcracker, performed by the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre.
  26. Sugarloaf CID 10-Year Celebration – 2026 marks the 10-year anniversary of the Sugarloaf CID, and we can’t wait to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together!
