In partnership with Georgia DOT, Gwinnett County is deploying new technology in traffic signals that will allow for emergency vehicle preemption (EVP). That means emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire trucks can trigger traffic signals to allow them to move through crowded intersections. As the emergency vehicle approaches an intersection, it will get a green light. This will improve safety not only for the emergency vehicles, but also for other drivers. It will also improve emergency vehicle response times and increase their ability to save lives. The Sugarloaf CID is contributing funds to include traffic signals in our district in the program.
