CID Board Chairman, Brand Morgan, welcomed everyone and reviewed the progress that Sugarloaf CID has made. He shared that since its inception in 2016, Sugarloaf CID revenue increased by 7 times and that the CID has leveraged $28.6 million in total funding for projects.
Next, Executive Director Alyssa Davis reviewed the work accomplished over the past year. The CID hired its second staff member, Daisy Mills, who serves as Project Manager. Daisy introduced herself and recited her background as a native Atlantan who served as a Budget Analyst in North Carolina for 5 years, before moving back to Atlanta in March 2024.
The CID completed two large placemaking projects in 2024: the landscape installation on the east side of the I-85 interchange and the mural, Synchronicity, both of which are along Sugarloaf Parkway. The attendees then watched a video which details the history, process, and partners of the Synchronicity Mural.
CID Board Treasurer and President & CEO of the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau, Stan Hall, wrapped up the presentations by reviewing the recent updates to the Gas South District campus and the opening of the Westin Atlanta Gwinnett.
